At the VentureBeat conference, IBM's David Cox delivered a convincing argument for collaborative development in enterprise generative AI. The executive, Vice President of AI models and head at the joint MIT and IBM artificial intelligence laboratory, underscored the importance of transparency in innovation, particularly in the current AI landscape.
Cox pointed out the complex essence of openness in AI, challenging the simplistic perception of the idea. He observed the burgeoning community of open models from various sources, including technology corporations, academic institutions, and countries.
Nevertheless, he voiced worries about the nature of transparency in numerous LLMs, observing that certain models provide barely more than a collection of data points lacking transparency in their production methods.
